The Thing: Flame Thrower is a first-person shooter game developed by Metaio and published by Universal Studios as a free app for the Android, iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch platforms. A virtual and Augmented Reality mobile app designed to promote the 2011 prequel film, it was released on October 13, 2011.
Gameplay[]
In the game, players assume the role of one of the surviving Antarctic scientists, trapped in a dimly-lit virtual laboratory just like the one in the film. Players must move their mobile devices 360° to defend themselves from the attacking alien creatures lurking in the shadows by incinerating them with the flamethrower. Featured creatures include the Juliette-Thing and the Edvard-Thing. The game also features an "Infect Yourself" mode, where players can use their devices' front camera to snap their photo and transform it into the Griggs-Thing.
