Black Ops Soldiers (2) - The Thing (2002)

Arctic Marines' captain Blake is surrounded by Whitley's black ops unit, as seen in The Thing (2002).

Whitley's Black Ops (short for black operations) were a covert U.S. Special Forces unit which served under United States Arctic Marines Colonel, R.C. Whitley. Its operatives appear in the 2002 video-game The Thing.

History[]

The Black Ops unit is notable for assisting Colonel R.C. Whitley in the rescue of Dr. Shaun Faraday, the Chief Medical Researcher of biotechnology company, Gen Inc, from their overwhelmed and contaminated Pyron Sub Facility. After rescuing Faraday and capturing 'rogue' Arctic Marines' Captain Blake, they were then tasked by the infected Whitley to serve as the security force of Gen Inc's Strata Medical Laboratory and its nearby Military Outpost. Blake and his team fought their way through a battalion of hundreds of troops, finally succeeding in killing the mutated Whitley with the help of helicopter pilot, R.J. MacReady.

Equipment[]

Black Ops troops utilize military-grade equipment; wearing sturdy body armor and gas masks and wielding weapons available to Blake, such as Pistols, Shotguns, Machine Guns, Sniper Rifles, Flamethrowers and Grenade Launchers.

Trivia[]

  • It is possible to disarm them and even kill them with the Stun Gun and Stun Grenades.
  • There's a special variant in the Strata Medical Laboratory that emerges from the security elevator if Blake pushes the wrong switches. They are immortal and one even carries a Grenade Launcher.
