The Caterpillar D3 B track-type tractor is a small bulldozer manufactured by Caterpillar Inc. The bulldozer appears in the 1982 film The Thing as one of U.S. Outpost 31's vehicles (others include the Bombardier Skidozer and a Bell 206 helicopter).
The dark green Caterpillar bulldozer is first seen during the opening scenes of The Thing (1982); one of the three vehicles lying around the exterior of Outpost 31. The equipment is visible during the scene where the armed Norwegian is shot dead by outpost commander Garry and is later used by Nauls to demolish the rec room in the film's conclusion. The vehicle is last seen inside the building, with one of the three survivors (Garry) puncturing the vehicle's fuel tank using an axe.
